OLGA STELLA

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Olga Stella has almost 20 years of experience in economic development, public policy and coalition-building in Detroit. Her career has spanned working alongside residents in Detroit neighborhoods to helping to facilitate over $200 million in investment in the city. Olga lives with her family in Detroit and is active in the community, serving on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy.

BONNIE FAHOOME

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS PROGRAMS

Bonnie Fahoome has spent nearly 10 years serving the entrepreneurs and small businesses of Detroit. In her current role at Design Core Detroit, Bonnie actively collaborates with partner organizations and subject matter experts to develop new tools and resources to support design-driven businesses and the economic development ecosystem in Detroit. She is a founding member of Detroit’s BizGrid team and regularly facilitates connections between professional service providers and their target clients.

ELLIE SCHNEIDER

DIRECTOR, DETROIT CITY OF DESIGN

Ellie Schneider represents Detroit as a City of Design in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, serving as coordinator for the Cities of Design subnetwork. Ellie received her undergraduate degree from DePaul University in Chicago, majoring in international studies with minors in African and Black Diaspora Studies and Community Development. She attended law school at Wayne State University and is a licensed attorney under the Michigan and Federal Bar.

KIANA WENZELL

DIRECTOR OF CULTURE AND COMMUNITY

Kiana Wenzell has more than 15 years experience researching, planning and executing design projects in metropolitan Detroit. In her current role at Design Core, Kiana collaborates with designers and partner organizations to create dynamic place-based events. Kiana has an undergraduate degree in interior design from Eastern Michigan University and a graduate degree in technical writing and professional communication from Lawrence Technological University. She was born and raised in Detroit.

JESSICA MALOUF

SENIOR MARKETING MANAGER

As a creative marketing expert, Jessica Malouf is passionate about implementing marketing solutions with a humanistic quality. During her time at Design Core, she has helped launch brands and programs like Design Core Detroit, UNESCO Detroit City of Design and Month of Design. She also manages the organization’s messaging, creative direction, digital and print production, and digital communication strategies. Prior to her work at Design Core, she ran her own culinary business and worked as an analyst at Digitas. Jessica holds a degree in economics from the University of Michigan.

MELINDA ANDERSON

SENIOR EVENT PRODUCER

Previously Design Core’s Director of Engagement and Detroit’s Month of Design Creative Director. Melinda has now transitioned to become Senior Event Producer focusing on producing Eastern Market After Dark, Light up Livernois, and the Detroit City of Design Competition. Melinda has 13 years of experience in an event planning and production effort. Melinda developed and led the Detroit Design Festival and Detroit Month of Design for eight years. She has developed a special expertise in installation design, implementation, and brand activations and is transitioning her role in the organization to focus specifically on high quality, high impact art and design installations.Melinda also has a bachelor’s in architecture from the University of Michigan. While born and raised in Detroit, she has lived and worked abroad in both Berlin and Palermo.

BUSINESS PROGRAMS MANAGER

Cydney Camp is a self-taught visual artist, creative entrepreneur and economic development professional. In her previous role at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, she helped Detroit-based businesses grow through nationally acclaimed programs Motor City Match and NEIdeas. In her current work at Design Core, Cydney connects designers to growth opportunities and helps local businesses solve their challenges with design. Cydney received her degree in social relations and policy from James Madison College at Michigan State University.

CHARLOTTE WILSON

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Charlotte Wilson provides administrative support and performs all bookkeeping operations for the Design Core team. Charlotte has a B.B.A. from Northwood University and has more than 20 years of experience in office management, client relations and financial practices.

SHELBY SEAY

VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Shelby Seay is a communication designer from Metro Detroit. She graduated from College for Creative Studies in May 2018. In addition to her studies, she served as secretary and president of CCS’s AIGA student chapter. As graphic designer at Design Core, Shelby designs brand assets, social media posts, and event materials for events like Drinks x Design and Month of Design. She also manages our social media accounts and assists with marketing practices.

CRYSTAL MARIE YOUNG

DRINKS X DESIGN PROJECT MANAGER

Crystal Marie Young is a daring entrepreneur, creative, and designer with bold ideas and even bolder executions. As Project Manager, she help develop the monthly program and manage event logistics for an event that attracts 300-500 people every month. Crystal is excited to spread the art of design through Detroit and beyond. She is also the creator of Crystal Marie Events, a Detroit based event planning and design company.
