About the event

The discussion will center on city building, as informed by Dominykas’s experiences working on the "ReBorn Mariupol" vision project with The Critical Agency.

Delving into The Critical Agency’s research process for storytelling, rebuilding, and rebranding post-war areas, the conversation will explore how their findings relate to city building and social design in Detroit and around the world.

The Critical Agency is a research and design group based in Vilnius, Lithuania. Their involvement with the Reborn Mariupol project and work rebranding the city of Klaipeda serve as jumping off points for this conversation on social design, collaboration and creative solutions.

About ReBorn Mariupol:

Initiated by the municipality of Mariupol, The Reborn Mariupol initiative brought four teams of architects, social designers and city planners together to reimagine the city and propose plans for its revival. Together, they created a plan for the reconstruction of Mariupol that addresses the physical and social aspects crucial to city building.

Mariupol has been profoundly impacted by the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has disrupted countless lives and damaged over 90% of the city’s vital infrastructure.
