Through art, education, and growing food, Feedom Freedom Growers is cultivating the self-reliance that sustains the life of our developing communities. We are committed to growing food, community and relationships. Feedom Freedom Growers continues to strive towards planting seeds of change.
A program of the College for Creative Studies, community+public arts: DETROIT brings the arts and communities together to create unique public art projects and events that express a unique community character.
“Art in the Garden” will be a series of youth and family urban harvest time celebrations on the four Saturdays in September at the Jefferson/Chalmers Fox Creek Artscape, adjacent to the Feedom Freedom Garden.
These events will include tours of this unique space combining distinctive, sustainable architecture, landscape, hardscape, and visual arts, all supporting ongoing community engagement, classes, and performances.
Art in the Garden will feature short, hands-on youth and family activities in both art and gardening and free harvest garden treats to sample.
The ArtScape was generated as a social practice project of the College for Creative Studies with Feedom Freedom Growers, Jefferson East Inc., and many smaller community organizations, and individuals working together through a process of community-based participatory design.
The events will be open September 4, 11, 18 & 25, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm for drop-in participation each day, weather permitting.
Location: 890 Manistique, Detroit, 48215; adjacent to Feedom Freedom Urban Farm.
Come meet the creators and join us in community.
