Since 2016, Simone DeSousa EDITION has presented Contemporary Art + Design in the form of a curated ever-changing selection of limited editions that are both collectible and accessible. EDITION invites our visitors to experience a wide variety of works, including concept furniture, functional objects, vessels, jewelry, prints, media, and publications, by both emerging and established Detroit artists and designers, as well as from selected national and international creatives. In addition to staging actual encounters with contemporary Art + Design, EDITION is a platform for conversations about art and design practices and theory, and seek to further collaborations with local institutions in art and design.
Simone DeSousa EDITION in collaboration with Eugenie is pleased to present Form&Seek’s project “Can I come out now?,” a patio installation and exhibition presenting new pieces from the series Flow In.
In our fourth year of participation in the Detroit Month of Design, EDITION, now in partnership with Eugenie, is excited to once more invite Detroit-based designers to activate the patio as a public space to engage community and facilitate encounters with contemporary art and design. Additional new work and objects by Form&Seek will also be presented inside the EDITION space in conjunction with the installation. Flow In is a versatile furniture collection that opens a platform to rest and leisure. The multi-height surfaces can be configured in countless ways depending on the user’s needs, and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Detroit-based Turkish-born Bilge Nur Saltik’s practice, Form&Seek, was established in 2013, shortly after she received her master’s degree in Product Design from the Royal College of Art in London. Nur’s intent is to incorporate culture with contemporary design. Pairing the old with the new, she works with traditional craftsmen–tapping into their age-old techniques and knowledge–and introduces them to new materials and fabrication processes.
