Diversity in Design Collaborative: Creating an Inclusive Design Ecosystem

Diversity In Design Collaborative

What does a truly inclusive design industry look like? Why is it important? How can we help create a design community that represents diverse perspectives now and for future generations?

Join the Diversity in Design (DID) Collaborative along with a special panel of collaborators and Detroit community members for an engaging discussion as we explore issues around lack of diversity in the design industry—specifically the underrepresentation of Black creatives.

This will be an open conversation about how the DID Collaborative is working on developing means to increase the representation of Black creatives in the design industry from awareness at the high school level to equity in college programming to transforming the systems for recruitment and retention of Black designers across their careers.

A group of panelists including Forest Young, Head of Design – Wolff Olins, D’Wayne Edwards, Founder of PENSOLE Footwear Design Academy, and Keisha Golding, Head of Belonging – Gap Inc., with informed perspectives, moderated by Todd Palmer, Director of Diversity In Design, will come together to explore ways the Collaborative can profoundly transform the status quo across design industries.
