Detroit Gallery of Metals is a cultural institution dedicated to the preservation, celebration, and education of metal arts in Detroit and around the World. Founded by Master metal craftsman and inventor Carlos Nielbock, our mission is to promote the past, present, and future of sustainable and upcycled design.
We will host a panel discussion on the “Future of Upcycled Design in Detroit”, hosted by Master craftsman, inventor, and collector, Carlos Nielbock and a select group of expert panelists. This discussion will be the continuation of a workshop that Nielbock led as part of the Detroit Design Core/UNESCO City of Design Cultural Exchange that he hosted in Graz, Austria.
Exclusive tour of Detroit Gallery of Metals and CAN Art Handworks campus, which includes the Detroit Windmill Experimental Park, an outdoor installation of fully upcycled wind turbines that are beautiful and functional public art, Bloody River Run Sculpture Garden, and Hall of Benin Bronze, a magnificent display of African metal artifacts.
The event will include campus tours and reception for guests.
