In September 2022, at the vibrant beating heart of downtown Detroit during its liveliest month, in simultaneous collaboration with Detroit Month of Design, NAIAS, Detroit Jazz Festival, Dlectricity and more, we are bringing you LoveITDetroit, an active design, innovation and architectural exhibition like nothing Detroit has experienced before.

More Italy in Detroit. More Detroit in Italy. In highly experiential, collaborative, passion fueled, multidimensional, multisensory, extraordinary ways.

For the first time ever, the Consulate of Italy in Detroit will participate in Detroit Month of Design with LoveITDetroit. 30 days of completely uninhibited exploration, showcasing and demonstrating the works of some of the most influential Italian and Detroit leaders of industry, along with innovation themes as never before in a breathtaking physical environment designed by renowned Italian architect and designer, Roberto Palomba, ps+A. To further astonish attendees, LoveITDetroit will also take place in the Metaverse.

We’re curating magnificence in collaboration with some of the most spectacular Italian and Detroit brands, designers and innovators today, diving into myriad design topics. For the Love of Italy, for the Love of Detroit and for the Love of Design.

12th September Carlo Ratti – Superstar Architect CarloRatti will talk about his collaborative experiences for Italy (Expo in Milan in 2015 and in Dubai in 2020, regeneration of Expo2015 in Milan in an Innovation Center and Life Science Park) as well as his work as head of the Senseable City Lab at MIT University in Boston. 13th September – Communication for Design. Prof. Ruben Abbattista (Co-founder and VP of Circolo del Design, Former Chief Communication Officer for the City of Turin and Chief Communications Officer of TMP Group) will discuss how to promote a city through design, developing a local, national and international network. 14th September Pininfarina / Automotive- Talking about automotive in Detroit - the Motor city par excellence in the USA - needed big names, not only because our Pop Up will be aimed at an expert audience in the sector but also because the same will be held during the days dedicated to the media of the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show, the most important auto show in the United States). PininfarinaCEO, Sivio Angori, will discuss auto and industrial design, so as to create a user experience that merges physical and digital worlds through aesthetics and technology particularly relevant in transitioning to electric mobility. 21st September - Engineering – The Motorvehicle University of Emilia-Romagna has the most famous automotive Companies in the world put their know-how and the most innovative technologies at the service of students who want to become the new professionals in the automotive field and are willing to design road and racing vehicles, more sustainable propulsion systems and the subsystems for intelligent functions and production facilities in the pursuit of Industry 4.0. 24th Shop and See - in which Italian fashion brands and Detroit designers (with a live component) will be exhibited, as well as works by the artist Paolo Nicolai with sculptures made with recycled materials.

26th Furniture and Sustainability– Architect Luisa Bocchietto, Former President of the Industrial Design Association (ADI) and of the World Design Organization (WDO) will talk about furniture, sustainability, Italian design and how design has expanded from product design to the design of processes and services that involve communities as well as companies. Architect Bocchietto will also discuss how to submit an application to WDO to become a WDO Capital of Design in 2026 (as Turin has been in the past). This synergistic effort will bring Italy even closer to Detroit, carrying out further joint projects on the theme of Design. Drinks and networking to follow.
