Explore captivating sculptures and mesmerizing installations at “Moments of Immersion” during the 11th annual Detroit Month of Design.
The bodies of work on display combine physical sculptures and experimental film. Using digital documentation of physical sculptures and nature, designer Yazmin Dababneh, translates these moments into immersive film installations. Each piece takes a place of familiarity in nature and distorts it on a crafted landscape– suggesting the distortion our perspectives create in our personal realities.
Yazmin Dababneh is an independent, Detroit-based artist who focuses on creating sculptural work as well as immersive and interactive experiences.
Viewing Hours: Fri., 9/10 – Sun., 9/26
Yazmin’s practice is heavily influenced by quantum physics— specifically string theory, quantum entanglement and limbic resonance, which all discuss our internal connection of consciousness to the multiverse. These studies describe the way our universe is interconnected and how everything is affected by one another through multiple dimensions beyond the three- dimensional world we’re able to perceive. Her work seeks to make visible these intangible ideas through material explorations that result in sculpture, installation, experimental film and immersive experiences.
