On Wilderness: A Field School

This hands-on Workshop and Field School will explore one of Detroit’s finest wild urban woodlands. We mean Field School in every sense of the term: there will be plant identification; sketching; dialogue and walking-about in practical shoes. We will spend the afternoon together (and apart) in the field, connecting over the richness that can emerge from Detroit’s landscapes when they are left alone. Together we will explore the dormant potential of Detroit’s existing wild urban landscapes. Part celebration and part field trip, this salon style workshop will champion active discovery and the role of entrepreneurial plants. No prior experience is necessary to enjoy and contribute to this immersive, all-weather event. PPE, sunscreen and bug spray will be provided on-site. Advanced registration is required. The event will be documented and shared online for participants who are not able to join in person. Please contact event organizers for specific questions about limited mobility participation.
