Citizen Robotics is a community tech hub that teaches local residents how to 3d print houses in their own neighborhoods. Their innovation center teaches new technologies, creates access to higher paying construction jobs, and increases the supply of quality, affordable homes. Citizen Robotics seeks input from those impacted by housing insecurity as well as experts trying to resolve it.
“Setting the Table for 3d Printed Affordable Housing” is an exploration of a nascent technology for the built environment. Showcasing the design talent of local student designers, our 3d concrete printer will print a table in front of a live audience. In addition to the live print, the exhibition will include works designed by students, such as coffee tables, dining tables, and more. Along with the exhibition, there will be a workshop to discuss the benefits of 3d printing and how it presents a new pathway to tackle housing insecurity across the country. These tables showcase the advantages of 3d modeling, 3d printing, and parametric design, and highlight how these advantages can be used to tackle the problem of housing insecurity. This event is our way of “setting the table” for affordable housing by showing the capabilities of 3d concrete printing, expanding awareness and encouraging adoption.
