DATA, Detroit Art Teachers Association is an organization of art education professionals whose mission is to provide support to art students and art teachers in our schools and to uphold excellence in the teaching of visual arts. DATA was established over 80 years ago and its membership is open to art teachers and art administrators in the Detroit area.
In cooperation with other art and youth focused groups and businesses, DATA (Detroit Art Teachers Association) will facilitate drop-in, art-making workshops for youth throughout the summer where they will each create a panel for a quilt.
The panels will be arranged and sewn by a master quilter and displayed for the public from September 18, 2021 through September 30, 2021 during gallery hours.
Opening reception is Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 5:00pm – 7:00 pm at AKOMA Art Gallery.
