The N’Namdi Center commits to the promotion and development of the arts and creative sector for the advancement of the City of Detroit.
N’Namdi Center for Contemporary Art
The N’Namdi Center is dedicated to the cultural enlightenment of the city through the arts. As a catalyst in the development of Detroit’s creative ecosystem, the Center promotes and perpetuates the cultural legacy of art and artist of color, through its exhibition-performance platform, as well as its creative place-making undertakings.
The N’Namdi Center commenced to create Detroit’s first destination for art galleries, the West End Gallery District. The Center envisioned the gallery district as a local and regional destination that celebrates art and culture and nurtures creative entrepreneurs particularly people of color and diverse cultures.
In doing so, the District will showcase how moderate density, mixed-use districts with galleries, retail, restaurants, bars, creative businesses and nearby residential neighborhoods coexist through the utilization of creativity as a driver for sustainable and equitable development.
The N’Namdi Center is collaborating with URGE Development and architects Volume One and Centric Design Studio for its first initiative in the West End Gallery District, “The Osi”, a mixed-use residential commercial building located on Grand River Avenue.
