Public x Design: from inclusion to equity is requesting proposals for sessions at our 2018 convening in Detroit, MI. Session leaders will receive complimentary registration to the conference.
Due: 5PM EDT July 31, 2018
Public x Design, now in its third year, brings together a diverse group of people who contribute to the vitality of the public life of our cities. This year’s theme is “From Inclusion to Equity.” The conference is open to everyone. We are convening a community of design practitioners, organizers, advocates, activists, community partners, architectural designers, engineers, planners, government officials, and more. We are asking ourselves and each other:
What role can design play in shaping more inclusive public life in public spaces? How are design and planning practitioners implicated in our increasingly unequal cities? And how can design and planning practitioners best work with and for community partners to achieve their visions?
Last year we devised an agenda for action in our cities. This year we come back together to see how we are making an impact. Those already working on these issues will share their models and approaches. Others looking to improve processes will learn how to adapt others’ solutions into their home communities.
