Activities to Support Youth at Home

Design Core would like to extend a special thank our Detroit City of Design partners for stepping up to educate and inspire our youth while they are home from school. Here are some great activities for kids and families to build their creative skills:

At Home Art Activities with Cranbrook: Spark your family’s creativity with art-inspired activities for every day of the week with Cranbrook Museum of Art! Share your finished work by tagging Cranbrook Art Museum on social media (#CREATEwithCAM) or email to visitart@cranbrook.edu.

Design Our Future Competition DESIGNCONNECT is asking high school students in Detroit to design a type of transportation, a living space, or a wearable item for persons living with disabilities in 2050. All art and design levels are welcome. The top three finalists will win the following prizes:

  • 1st place: $3,000

  • 2nd place: $2,000

  • 3rd place: $1,000

Deadline: June 26, 2020

CAP At Home: Join Community Arts Partnership staff on Tuesday and Thursdays from 12-2:30pm to view Facebook LIVE art tutorials with materials found in and around the house. CAP is a part of the College for Creative Studies.

Living Arts At Home Living Arts Detroit has gathered activities and arts inspiration to get your creative juices flowing!

Detroit Parks Coloring Book: Color your way through 14 Motor City public spaces. Starting April 14 and running through the end of May, every Tuesday the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy will share two pages for you to download, print, and color.
